How it all began...

In March 2011, four musical worlds collided – Swiss drummer Renato Roncaglioni, German guitarist Bodo Neumeister, Swiss bassist Nik Ilic and American lead vocalist Heather Hoy – to start a band “Unifour”.
One year later, in August 2012, the 4-song-single "Four Steps Faster" was released with four original songs, which had already made a big splash in the Swiss country scene. There followed countless performances at well-known country festivals in Switzerland, for example at the "International Country Festival Albisgütli" in Zurich, where the band was met with great enthusiasm and gained valuable recognition.
In October 2013, Unifour released its debut albums "Get It On" and received overwhelming public interest within a few days, led by the print media and radio stations. Radio Swiss Pop even added the Unifour’s hit "Love Everything About You" to its weekly playlist.
When Renato Roncaglioni left Unifour in May 2016, Heather, Bodo and Nik were joined by drummer Rafael Zimmermann from Lucerne, and the band dared to explore new beginnings with new beats and fresh impetus. Sadly, Heather Hoy fell ill soon afterwards and her health situation led her to leave Unifour in August 2017. The band’s new front lady was the well-known singer and actress Raya Sarontino, who had stood in for Heather at short notice. With her clear, bright and powerful voice she quickly captured the audience and Unifour became her new great passion. The band was again complete and on its way into a new era.
Unifour is currently workin on their second album.

Raya Sarontino
Lead vocals

After graduating from Kantonsschule Luzern with main subject Music, she moved to London to complete a three year Musical Theatre course at the Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, qualifying with a Bachelor of Performing Arts degree. This was followed by engagements in musicals and shows in London, Seoul, Switzerland and at sea.

During her time as production singer on a cruise ship, she met Italian sound engineer Ivan Sabino, with whom she later married and moved back to Kriens. Since her return to Switzerland, Raya has been working in various musicals and operettas, performed with close harmony groups "Swinglisch" and "The Darnettes" and has been singing as a soloist in several concerts and events in Switzerland and abroad.

Upon joining Unifour, a new world of vocal styles opened up to Raya. Having listened to the Country Music for a long time, it never occured to her to become active in this music genre. Originally standing for Heather Hoy, who had fallen ill and eventually taking her role once Heather left the group, Raya has enjoyed the support and teamwork of her fellow musicians in Unifour and the warmth that the country community has to offer. Furthermore the depth and variety that country music has to offer, has well and truly got under her skin.

Unifour has become a part of Raya Sarontino’s life that she would not want to miss.

Nik Ilic
Bass & Background/Lead Vocals

Thanks to his fundamental knowledge of rhythm and harmony coupled with his skills in the vocal department - all of which he learned during four years of attending a music school, Nik was later able to successfully self teach himself guitar and bass. As he began to master the bass, he realized that he felt a very strong connection to the amazing ability of this instrument to set the foundation of the rhythm part of songs---it didn’t take long before the bass became his favorite instrument and his central focus!

Over the years, Nik has been a faithful member of the Swiss country bands, Mason Jar and the Gasoliners, where he has served as both background vocalist and bassist.

His enthusiasm for the Country Music scene continues to grow bigger by the day and he has big plans for the future of Unifour !

Bodo Neumeister
Electric & Acoustic Guitars, Banjo, Background/Lead Vocals

At age 8, Bodo discovered his love of guitar and went on to become the Lead Guitarist of several successful Rock bands in the '80s and '90s in the southern part of Germany. In 2005, his profession led him to Waldshut where he quickly realized that the Country Music scene in the German-speaking part of Switzerland was something he just had to become a part of.

In 2007, Bodo played in the country duo Nashville Cowboys and in 2008, he became a loyal member of the Gasoliners Country Band. Bodo showed his expertise in electric and acoustic guitar as well as contributing a backing vocal in both formations. Throughout 2007 – 2011, he appeared in many momentous Country Festivals in Switzerland and in southern Germany and rocked many a stage in Schupfart, Interlaken, Schwarzee, Albisgütli in Zürich, CMC (Country Music Club of Switzerland) and Country & Western Club in Bad Säckingen.

With the end of the Nashville Cowboys and the Gasoliners in 2011, came a new beginning. Unifour is where his heart beats now — next to presenting his guitar and vocal talent, Bodo is able to shine with his composing contributions in the band and is concentrating all of his energy in this new project.

At age 6, he was finally given his big chance to sit behind his own father’s drum set. A drummer was born! Soon after, Rafael involved himself in different musical formations at school and his passion for drumming continued to grow. At age 15, he had his first performance with the local brass band, at age 16 with his first rock band and at age 20, had the amazing opportunity to be accepted into the Orchestra at the Opera House in Sursee.

Rafael began to perfect his craft by studying music at the Jazz School in Luzern. Many musical engagements followed in a Jazz trio, at the Opera House Sursee, in different Brass band formations and in church as a timpanist.

In 2010, Rafael spent time travelling in the USA/Canada and quickly fell in love with the music that poured out from every corner: COUNTRY MUSIC!
Listening to Country Music Radio Stations impacted him greatly and there was no going back.

Influential drummers in Rafael’s life remain his father, Urs, Larry Mullen and Alberto Malo.
